After a lot of thought, producer Dil Raju decided to release Tamil actor Vijay's film Vaarasudu in Telugu, on January 14th. Despite that, the film has only left him with a bitter experience.
Dil Raju is a highly successful producer in Telugu, who has seen really high ups and downs. He made his Tamil debut this year, with Ilayathalapathy Vijay's film, Varisu. The film is directed by Vamshi Paidiapally, and features Rashmika Mandanna as the leading lady. The film was released in Tamil on 11th January and has been released in Telugu today.
Initially, the film was scheduled to be released on 11th January in Telugu as well, but the film's release got pushed because of the release of Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy. Dil Raju tried his best to get some buzz around the film in Telugu but seems to have failed at it. Dubbed Vaarasudu in Telugu, the film didn't carry any buzz at all in Telugu since day one.
Moreover, the film's trailer left the Telugu audiences underwhelmed, more so because it looked as though very familiar themes were explored in the movie. Many scenes from the film looked like they were already seen in another Telugu movie. The songs of the film also didn't help much for the film's promotion in Telugu.
Vijay also reportedly refused to promote the film in Telugu, leaving Dil Raju to deal with the publicity of the film alone. On the other hand, Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy got a roaring response from the audience, which is another major reason for Vaarasudu to fail in Telugu. Both films are being enjoyed by the Telugu audience during this festival season. Varisu is doing good in Tamil.
