On Wednesday, S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs faced the Rajya Sabha. He said that China had been duly informed that any attempts to change the Line of Actual Control (LAC) will face stiff opposition. He added that the abnormality in relations with China is present over the previous two years.
He was replying to questions from Pramod Tewari and Nasir Hussain of the Congress about the LAC. The MPs wanted to know if PM Narendra Modi brought up the killing of 20 Indian soldiers with Chinese president Xi Jinping.
“Diplomatically, we have been clear with the Chinese that we will not tolerate any attempt to unilaterally change the LAC... So long as they continue to seek to do that. If they have built up forces, in our minds it is a serious issue. then our relationship is not normal and the abnormality that is being seen in the past two years. The military commanders of the two countries are talking. and it should be their discretion. House should be understanding of the national sensitivity of such a delicate matter,” Mr. Jaishankar said.
Mr. Jaishankar briefed the Upper House on the most recent changes to Indian foreign policy.
The Minister said that India's attitude toward Palestine is clear when Manoj Kumar Jha of the RJD asked about it. John Brittas of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) also asked the same question. He added that India's financial support for the Palestinian refugee agency has increased over the term of the current government. He said it was demonstrative that India favored a two-State solution.
