About 1940 Lo Oka Gramam Movie

A 16-year-old girl in a 1940s South Indian village is married to a 65-70-year-old widower who offers a brideprice, a practice then common but now banned. When the young woman, Susheela, discovers her elderly husband is unable to consummate the marriage, she begins an affair with Suri, a lower-caste man. The pregnancy is discovered, leading to Susheela’s expulsion from the house and the shaving of both lovers’ heads as punishment by the village council. The widower later relents and arranges their wedding, while the village elders’ authority collapses after lower-caste workers refuse to cooperate. The film stars Baladitya, Sri, Rallapalli Narasimha, Mukku Raju and Ramakrishna, directed by Narasimha Nandi.
