A few months back, Malayalam Superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran stated that Ram Charan has bought the remake rights of his maiden directorial film Lucifer. Starring Mohanlal in the lead role, Lucifer is a political thriller that remained as an industry hit in Malayalam cinema. Ever since Ram Charan bought its remake rights, people started speculating that his father, Megastar Chiranjeevi will remake the project. If the latest grapevine is anything to go by, VV Vinayak will direct this film. It will go on floors by mid-August this year, after the release of Chiru's ongoing film Acharya.
Vinayak has earlier worked with Chiru for the films Tagore and Khaidhi No:150. Now, he is all set to direct this Lucifer remake as well. The sources claimed that Chiru and writers Paruchuri Brother earlier though of working with Saaho director Sujeeth for this film. But finally, they felt that Vinayak would be a good option as he already teamed up with them for two times in the past.
Vinayak was actually supposed to make his acting debut with the film Seenayya. But it got shelved due to the reasons best known to its makers. Thus, Vinayak shifted back his focus on direction and is working on this project. We hear that it will get started after the release of Chiru-Koratala Siva's upcoming film Acharya. At the same time, Srinu Vaitla's name is also in consideration but Vinayak might get the chance easily. Apparently, Acharya will hit the screens on August 14.
