Nawazuddin Siddiqui has announced that he is bidding farewell to digital platforms. The actor responded that OTT platforms have become a racket of big production houses and a dumping ground for unnecessary events.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui told Bollywood Hungama that a large number of events are affecting the quality of the content.
“The platform has become a dumping ground for redundant shows. We either have shows that don’t deserve to be seen in the first place. Or sequels to shows that have nothing more to say,” said Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
“It’s become ‘Dhanda’ (Hindi for racket) for big production houses and actors... Major film producers in Bollywood have cut lucrative deals with all the big players in the OTT field. Producers get whopping amounts to create unlimited content. When I can’t bear to watch them how can I bear to be in them?” Nawazuddin Siddiqui added.
Recently, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was awarded Excellence in Cinema Award at the Filmfare Middle East Achievers Night. The ceremony, held in Dubai, saw the presence of more than 100 eminent personalities from the Indian Film Industry.
Siddiqui has also been nominated for the prestigious 2021 International Emmy Awards. Nawazuddin Siddiqui received a nomination for the Kim Jiseok Award at the Busan International Film Festival as well. This is for his debut English feature film, ‘No Land's Man’. He is the only Indian actor nominated in the ‘best performance by an actor’ category for Emmy this year. Others are Christian Tappan (The Great Heist), David Tennant (Des), and Roy Nik (Normali).
Meanwhile, the actor is now working on four films. These are Heropanti 2, Jogira Sara Ra Ra, Adbhut, and Sangeen. Siddiqui’s Hollywood film No Land's Man is gaining worldwide appreciation as well. In November, Siddiqui will begin filming for Kangana Ranaut's production Tiku Weds Sheru.
