Samantha Ruth Prabhu Posts Quote From Gita After Shakuntalam’s Box Office Failure

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently posted a photo on Instagram, along with a quote from the Bhagavad Gita. The quote she used translates to 'You have a right to perform your prescribed action, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your action.' This post comes after the disappointing box office performance of her latest movie, Shaakuntalam. The film was directed by Gunasekhar. The film was released in Tamil and Hindi. It failed to gross even ₹10 crores worldwide on its opening weekend.

Trade analyst Trinath stated that the movie was a disaster and had the lowest opening ever for a Samantha starrer. Shaakuntalam only managed to collect around ₹5 crores worldwide on the first day. Its earnings failed to increase throughout the opening weekend.

Samantha portrayed the central character Shakuntala. She is the daughter of Menaka and Viswamithra, in the film. It was her first collaboration with director Gunasekhar. It starred Sachin Khedekar, Dev Mohan, and Gautami in significant roles.

Despite the film's failure, Samantha's post on Instagram suggests that she isn't concerned with its performance. In her post, she used a Sanskrit verse from the Gita that encourages people to work without becoming attached to the fruits of their labor.

Samantha has a few upcoming projects, including the Telugu romantic drama Kushi. It co-stars Vijay Deverakonda and the Indian adaptation of Citadel with Varun Dhawan.
