Sources confirm that Samantha Ruth Prabhu is not out of Raj and DK's Citadel. There were rumours that Samantha had pulled out of upcoming projects. This was including Citadel, in which she co-stars with Varun Dhawan. The reason reported was because of her health issues.

Samantha is not taking any breaks due to her health issue, Myositis. It was incorrectly stated today that the actress plans to take a vacation from acting until she recovered. But sources claim that Samantha Ruth Prabhu is actively involved in the Bollywood series Citadel. A close source revealed that, "Samantha is part of Citadel. She has also given her dates in January. But depending on her availability and health, the official shooting dates will be confirmed. The rumours are baseless. The shoot is expected to begin soon."

The original spy series, which will be streamable on Amazon Prime Videos, was written by Sita R. Menon, Raj, and DK. The original show's creators are the Russo Brothers. They released a photo of Varun Dhawan on social media earlier today. With the post they confirmed his participation in the yet-to-be-titled Indian chapter of Citadel. Additionally, they affirmed that the routine shoot will start in January 2023. The Russo Brothers announced on Instagram that they would bring the Indian instalment of the Citadel universe. They stated, "We are thrilled to officially announce that we will be bringing you the Indian instalment of the Citadel universe. The local Original spy series will start filming in January 2023.”

Varun and Samantha form the leading duo of Citadel. They will reportedly be in some intense action scenes. The duo is also training in martial arts as part of their preparation. A source also informed that “Citadel India is set in the 1990s. In fact, the makers play around in two timelines – the start and the end of the 90s.”
