Prithviraj Sukumaran Backs Shah Rukh Khan And Pathaan; It’s Sad That An Art Form Has To Be Put Through Such Observations

Shah Rukh Khan and his movie Pathaan have been the subject of scrutiny ever since the song "Besharam Rang" went viral for allegedly hurting the feelings of specific people. Right-wing groups have levelled several accusations against the movie and the song about the dancing, intimate moments, and fashion choices. In the midst of all the controversy, Malayalam actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran, who has also worked on some Bollywood productions, spoke out in favour of the movie. He voiced his displeasure with how creative forms are subjected to such petty remarks and criticisms.

Prithviraj Sukumaran discussed the "sad" condition of affairs where art forms become a victim of such beliefs. He said this during a press conference promoting his movie Kappa in Kochi. He stated, “It’s sad that an art form has to be put through such observations and points of view as an artist.”

Readers may remember that Prithviraj expressed nothing but admiration for the Pathaan starring Shah Rukh Khan in a conversation. The filmmaker-actor said, “There have been times not too long ago when we’ve set down the table & thought, ‘How are they doing it? How is Hindi cinema cracking this? How are they able to open up such huge overseas markets?’ And that was not too long ago. I am not talking about the medieval ages. So, this I truly believe is a phase. There will be one big hit, maybe it’s Pathaan.”

Siddharth Anand is the director of Pathaan. It stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the key roles, with John Abraham as the villain. The movie was made by Yash Raj Films. It debuts on January 25 in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
