New Release Date For Samantha's Shaakuntalam Locked

Samantha Ruth Prabhu had shot for her upcoming film, Shaakunthalam, quite some time ago. The shoot was completed in 2021, but the movie couldn't be released because of the extensive graphics used in the film. The film was announced to be released on February 17th, and the promotions for the film even began. However, the release of the film has now been postponed, due to issues with the Hindi version of the film. It has now been announced that the film would be released on 7th April.

Shaakunthalam is directed by Gunasekhar and is based on the famous Telugu poet Kalidasa's timeless love epic. The film features Malayalam actor Dev Mohan as king Dushyanth. The film marks the actor's Telugu entry. Allu Arjun's daughter Allu Arha will be seen as Prince Bharata, the son of Shakunthala and Dushyanth, in the film. This is Gunasekhar's second periodic film, after Rudramadevi, which was released in 2015. The film featured Lady Superstar Anushka Shetty in the titular role and turned out to be a good success at the box office. On the other hand, Samantha is currently busy with Citadel, in which she will be seen alongside Varun Dhawan. The web series will be helmed by Raj and DK, marking their second collaboration with Samantha, after The Family Man. The web series also marks Samantha's return to sets after a long time, after she had been diagnosed with Myositis. The actress will resume shooting for her other project, Kushi, opposite Vijay Deverakonda, after this.
