Millie Bobby Brown, popular for her role as 'Eleven' on Stranger Things, turned 16 yesterday.
On the occasion of her 16th birthday, she decided to release a video on Instagram. The video discussed the issues that she has gone through with social media. She has spoken out about the sexualisation and inaccurate image the media has portrayed her.
She posted a video on Instagram which spoke about the public comments that have hurt her. She started the caption saying, "6 has felt like a long time coming. i feel like change needs to happen for not only this generation but the next. our world needs kindness and support in order for us children to grow and succeed. the last few years haven’t been easy, I’ll admit that."
Last year she went through the cyberbullying case which made her quit social media for a while. This year, during the award season, she received several negative comments for her clothes. Over the years, the public comments on social media have had an impact on her. She called people out on their such behaviour.
She continued her caption saying, "There are moments i get frustrated from the inaccuracy, inappropriate comments, sexualization, and unnecessary insults that ultimately have resulted in pain and insecurity for me but not ever will i defeated. ill continue doing what i love and spreading the message in order to make change.”
Her costars and other celebrities quickly came in her support. They left positive messages and birthday wishes in the comments sections. They expressed their love and strength for taking such a strong step on her 16th birthday.
Actors and models like Bella Hadid, Noah Schnapp all left positive wishes for her in the comments.
