Mani Ratnam's big-budget flick, Ponniyin Selvan is his longtime dream. The filmmaker has been trying hard to make his dream a reality for several years now, but he couldn't succeed all these years because of the money crunch. Now, he has signed a deal with Lyca Productions to fund the film.
Earlier, reports suggested that Keerthy Suresh got roped in to play a pivotal role in this period drama. However, sources close to the actress revealed that she has opted out of Ponniyin Selvan because she has signed Rajinikanth's film with director Siruthai Siva, which will go on floors in the coming days.
In the past, actress Anushka Shetty and actor-director Radhakrishnan Parthiban had backed out of the project as the shooting got postponed multiple times. Sources say that Keerthy had to make the decision because of the delay in shooting and she had also committed for Thalaivar 168.
On November 9, Sun Pictures announced Keerthy's inclusion in the film. Going by the rumors, she essays Rajinikanth's daughter in the film.
