I wish girls have that freedom, says Chinmayi Sripada

Chinmayi Sripada is always first to talk about the issues, especially when they are about girls. A video is currently floating on social media where the boy beats a girl. Having seen it, Chinmayi shared her thoughts that the girls need to have the freedom to walk away from the relationships that don't make them happy.

"A video is going viral where a young man is hitting a young woman asking ‘Who did you sleep with?’ (Or something on those lines. The guy seems to be an ex-boyfriend. The boy is angry that she - rightfully it seems after this violence - broke up with this man. It all comes down to men not believing a woman has the right to break up with him if she feels the relationship isn’t working out. However, a man having an affair if the wife doesn’t satisfy his sexual needs is - “He’s a man. Izzok.” Even by women. I just hope girls have the right and freedom to walk away from relationships that don’t make them happy without being called sluts. This is a country where girls still don't get to decide whom they can marry and procreate with. If 2 adults in a relationship don’t have the freedom to walk out and seek happiness when it is toxic or unfulfilling or unhappy without being beaten up by an ex for it - what the heck? One life and not all people are lucky to find a partner that is a well-adjusted adult. Especially post-marriage, in most cases a woman is expected to dial down her successes and not ‘hurt a man’s ego’ even if the man himself is quite fine. ‘Society’ will have to remind her to keep the marriage working and basically stop working also. Marriage > career. Husband > work." she shared.

Chinmayi, on the other hand, is trying to contest in the elections held by Dubbing Union, for the President post, against Radha Ravi.
