Director H Vinoth's Thunivu, produced by Boney Kapoor, hit the theatres on January 11. The film features Ajith Kumar in the lead role. The trio's film usually has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. However, Thunivu was different as they brought Ghibran on board.
In an interview with The Times of India, he said, "Even though I worked with a big star like Kamal sir, the films we did were more creative and not really mass movies. So, like everyone else, I was shocked when Vinoth told me that I'd be doing the music. Because I've always been a director's music director. I literally asked him if Ajith sir was OK with me doing the music. I owe it to Vinoth and especially Ajith sir, who had the guts to take me on board the project."
He further added, "A project like this comes with pressure. Yuvan has set the sound for Ajith sir's films, with his themes in Billa and Mankatha. And, Anirudh's Aaluma Doluma is the biggest banger from Ajith sir's films. Plus, I'm an ardent admirer of him, not just as a star, but as someone who inspires with his life beyond films. So, there was also my own desire for what I'd love to hear in his film. These three combined and took an emotional toll. Everywhere I went, fans would tell me, 'Bro, pinni pedal eduthadanum' or 'Vera level-la irukkanum, bro'. It was like writing an exam with someone standing right behind your back! Later, once the pressure cooled down, we decided to go with what music we'd like to do, something that we'd enjoy (sic)."
