Coronavirus: Sonu Nigam extends his stay in Dubai to avoid Travelling amid the outbreak

Sonu Nigam extended his Dubai stay with his wife and son to avoid placing people at risk. Travelling is risky amidst the Corona Virus outbreak and Nigam understands this better than ever. The singer had a concert due in Mumbai on March 6 which got postponed due to the outbreak. Before that Nigam was in Himalaya from which he travelled to Dubai after the concert which got cancelled. He is currently in his Dubai house till the risk minimises.

He told PTI, "I am fortunate that my wife and my son are in Dubai. My son studies here and I keep travelling here a lot, Dubai is like my second base. But my father, sister is alone in India. I wanted to come back to India and be at my father's side but I realised that if I do that, I'll be exposing him to the risk of me carrying this virus, who knows the extent of the danger,"

Nigam said he wants to be sure that he is not putting anybody at risk including him and his family. He urged towards the need to take necessary precautions. He added, "I thought let's not outsmart the virus. I thought it's better for me to stay for a bit (till things go normal). Coming back to India, and then going in quarantine will still be a risk."

He continued, "I came to Dubai and I thought I'll be able to go back to India but I didn't know it's going to be such an issue eventually. But we are fine here." Recently, singer Kanika Kapoor became the first Bollywood celebrity to test positive for the virus. She informed her fans that she is doing okay and is under complete quarantine.

The UP police called her out for negligence. Apparently the singer visited three Lucknow gatherings including one with political leaders as attendees. Media questioned Nigam if his decision had anything to do with what happened to Kapoor, to which he said,

"The last time I was contemplating coming to India was on March 16 night, but thankfully my flight got cancelled. Then from March 17, there was this regulation from the government of India that you have to go on a self-quarantine for 14 days, compulsorily. I decided I shouldn't take a chance. Being a potential carrier is the worst thing," he said." Nigam informed that he will be conducting a live music concert on his social media for his fans at home on Sunday.
