Asha Parekh Slammed Over Indian Women Choosing Western Clothes Comment

Asha Parekh recently spoke candidly about the westernisation of Indian women at the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFi) in Goa. Her remarks, however, did not sit well with some online users.

The Padma Shri recipient claimed that everything has changed, including the way that movies are produced, while speaking at a session. According to the actress, females nowadays don dresses to Indian weddings rather than ghaghra cholis, saris, or salwar-kameez. She claims that kids simply observe the on-screen ladies and want to imitate them. They merely desire to dress in the attire displayed on film by the actors. Parekh continued, "I'm really sad about westernisation."

Her remarks went viral as soon as they were shared on social media. Her ideas were scorned by internet users as being "regressive." She is also receiving criticism for her remarks about plus-sized women who dress in contemporary fashion. But Asha Parekh's admirers spoke up for her. They asserted that the remarks made by the seasoned actor were misinterpreted.

Jaya Bachchan has made waves for her remarks on Indian ladies who favour wearing western clothing. The senior actress claims that wearing western clothing gives a woman "manpower."
