Varisu, the most recent film by actor Vijay, has been a financial success, in just 11 days, the Vamshi Paidipally-directed movie has amassed nearly 250 crores in worldwide box office revenue. On Monday, the filmmakers revealed a poster on Twitter, confirming that the movie has raked in over 250 crores.
Rashmika Mandanna, Sarath Kumar, Shaam, Srikanth, and Jayasudha all had significant parts in Varisu. The movie was also subtitled and made available in Hindi.
The family drama Varisu, which features Vijay, centers on the youngest son attempting to take over his father's business empire. He does the takeover while facing fierce opposition from his two older siblings. The movie, which was also Vijay's Telugu debut, was directed by Vamshi Paidipally and also had a Tamil and a Telugu version.
Despite being released on the same day as Ajith's Thunivu, Varisu went on to have a successful run in theatres and finally won the box office.
Vamshi Paidipally came under fire last week for his irate response to claims that the movie suffers from a severe daily serial hangover. In an interview, Vamshi questioned whether those who criticize a movie are aware of the effort that goes into producing it. Many individuals on social media reacted angrily to his statement.
“You know how tough it is to make a film these days? Do you know how much a team is working out there to make a film work? You know how much hard work people are putting in to entertain audiences? Brother, it’s not a joke. There are so many sacrifices every filmmaker is making,” Vamshi said.
Vamshi also praised Vijay, his hero, for working so hard to practice his words and actions for the film. He also addressed the claim that the movie has a certain "serial" vibe for some viewers. Vamshi argued that people shouldn't belittle TV shows. It is because they keep so many viewers entertained at home.
