Dhamaka Box Office Receipts On New Years Day The Ravi Teja Starrer Crosses Crores
Dhamaka Box Office Receipts: On New Year's Day, The Ravi Teja Starrer Crosses 50 Crores
Dhamaka, starring Ravi Teja, has earned over Rs. 50 crores at the box office, with an estimated total after ten days of release standing at Rs. 51.50 crores.
Dhamaka had a fantastic second weekend at the box office thanks to yesterday's collection explosion (all sorts of puns intended). The revenue from the Ravi Teja-starring film increased dramatically on January 1st by 130%, bringing in Rs. 7 crores on its second Sunday, of which Rs. 6.35 crores came from Telugu states. After 10 days of release, Dhamaka's total box office receipts have surpassed Rs. 50 crore mark and are currently estimated at Rs. 51.50 crores.
The second weekend's business brought in approximately Rs. 13 crores, down just 40% from the first weekend. Less than 20% less was dropped on Sunday than the previous week. Even though New Year's Day helped the business on Saturday, it still held close to 45% of the first Saturday, which is a very strong hold by Telugu cinema standards. The business on Sunday was also helped by the holiday.
The second Sunday's statistics in Telugu states are the sixth-highest ever, barely behind mega-blockbusters like RRR (Rs. 23.30 crores), Baahubali 2 (Rs. 13.30 crores), Baahubali (Rs. 8.30 crores), Rangashthalam (Rs. 6.70 crores), and KGF Chapter 2 (Rs. 6.50 crores). This further demonstrates how frontloaded Telugu state business is by the fact that the sixth biggest Second Sunday is only just around Rs. 6 crores in a market that may generate a total of Rs. 400 crores plus.
This further demonstrates what a significant day January 1st is for the box office. An average movie eventually achieved box office results comparable to some of the biggest blockbusters in history. Yesterday's Telugu state collections were higher than those from the first Saturday. Yesterday was the best day of the run in many centers, but Sunday and Day 1 collections were comparable in many others. Despite experiencing problems with ticket pricing the year before, Pushpa nevertheless made a significant Rs. 4.60 crores on New Year's Day, which was in the third week. Instead of suffocating during the busy Sankranti/Pongal a few weeks later, industries in the South need to start considering the Christmas-New Year season for the release of major blockbusters.
