The film has got an interesting story. Not to reveal much, as per the film unit, the synopsis is that the film Sulthan revolves around a man who is left to deal with 100 goons after his father`s demise and finds himself stuck between the path of violence and the road to his passion. It is an interesting conflict of interest that gives a lot of scope to action.
Karthi is like the main pillar of this film. He is too good in his role and stole the show just with his powerful screen presence. The action scenes are showcased well and Karthi shined in his role. Rashmika Mandanna looked beautiful and bubbly. She gave her best performance in the film and scored good marks in the debut. Napoleon is good in his role. Lal justified his role. Yogi Babu is too good and will give us a laugh riot as long as he is on the screens. Madaiyan Bob and Hareesh Peradi delivered energetic performances. Ramachandra Raju and Nawab Shah made their presence felt.
Music is average. Keeping the songs aside, the background score is impressive. Grand visuals by the cinematographer also created a good impression on the audience. Production values by S. R. Prakash Babu and S. R. Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures are superb.
Director Bakkiyaraj Kannan only focused on the action sequences and failed to give equal importance to the entertainment factor. However, some scenes sure will tickle the laugh bones. Though the storyline is very simple and routine, the director tried to bring freshness to the film and succeeded in making the film worth watching. It is an out-and-out commercial film.
Director Bakkiyaraj Kannan chose the formula which was tested so many times in South Indian cinema. He took all the necessary commercial elements that can work with the audiences and weaved them together in a balanced way. Sulthan offers nothing new in terms of story or storytelling. Still, it is a fun ride. The love for masala pot-boilers among the Tamil and Telugu audiences can make this film a money-spinner at the box office.
If you are expecting something new like Khakhee and Khaithi, then this movie is not for you. If you keep your brains outside the theatre, you will enjoy Sulthan for sure.
