Raviteja is energetic as usual and has given an honest performance in all the three roles and shoulders this movie single-handedly. Its refreshing to see Ileana back in Tollywood after six years and she has done her part well in a very limited role. If she's seriously planning to do more movies, she needs to slim to get in shape. Cast includes Jaya Prakash Reddy, Sunil, Vennela Kishore, Srinivasa Reddy, Satya and Raghu Babu who try to evoke laughs. Sunil and Satya entertain us to an extent. Tarun Arora and his gang of antagonists are okay in their roles.
Music by SS Thaman is average except for a couple of songs but his BGM is good. Cinematography by Venkat C Dileep is good and shows the whole movie brightly. Editing is just ok as the runtime could have been crispier. Production Values from Mythri Movie Mkares are Grand
Amar Akbar Anthony is a regular revenge story with director Sreenu Vaitla adding a new layer with three character setup and starts off the movie introducing the plot setup ant the main character Amar. And then the movie shifts to a comedy set up in the name of WATA and it is here we are introduced to the second character Akbar and heroine Aishwarya. Director tried to generate fun with his NRI Telugu association setup. Abhimanyu Singh as FBI officer looks out of place and artificial. Amar tries to take on the villains and in the process starts behaving as Antony. Amar then starts to learn about his other two characters. First half ends with all Second half starts on a fun note with Sunil being introduced and then we have revealed the hero n heroine's flashback portions and the setup. With the movie turning interesting, here the director again brings back the whole comedy setup and tries to evoke laughs forcefully. And from here the movie starts getting predictable and ends on a routine note. Comedy generated is only good in parts. All the characters seem to be forcefully played onto us. Dialogues are good and Screenplay could have taken care of because a better screenplay could have only made the proceedings very interesting.
Amar Akbar Anthony is yet another disappointing film from Sreenu Vaitla and nothing seems to be better than his last couple of outings. Mass Maharaj's wait for an elusive hit continues. Director should have concentrated more on the plot rather than inserting forceful comedy. A better screenplay and music could have made it even more watchable this weekend.
