Vijayendra Prasad Is Working On The Writing For The RRR Sequel; Confirms SS Rajamouli
The movie, which starred Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, and Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, was released in March 2022.
Filmmaker SS Rajamouli is relishing the triumphant run of his film, RRR. The movie, which starred Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt, came out in March 2022. The movie collected a lifetime Hindi box office receipt of Rs. 274.31 crores. While the film has received critical acclaim in the West and has been nominated for various prominent award shows, Rajamouli has hinted that development on the sequel has begun.
Although a sequel wasn't anticipated, RRR's enormous success—both domestically and abroad—has made it possible. According to Rajamouli, “When we were making it, we didn’t have an idea about [a sequel]. With the initial success of it, we discussed a little bit and threw out some good ideas, but we didn’t feel there was a great idea that was worth pursuing, so we left it at that. Then, after the international success, when the topic came up again, my cousin [M. M. Keeravani] — who is also a part of my core team — gave an idea which we felt like, ‘Oh my God, this is a great idea. This is the idea that is worth pursuing.’"
SS Rajamouli claimed that the script for the RRR sequel is now being written by his father Vijayendra Prasad. He is the one who has always written scripts for Rajamouli. Rajamouli stated, “At present, he’s seriously working on the story; he’s getting it done. But once this script is done is when we really look into how to make it, when to make it, and how to bring it onto the screen.”
The movie received nominations for the Hollywood Critics Association's 6th Annual HCA Awards in four categories earlier this week. Best Picture, Best Director, Best Action Film, and Best International Film is among the categories. Additionally, the movie has been nominated for two 2023 Golden Globe awards. The movie has received a nomination for Best Picture - Non-English Language. The second nomination is for "Naatu Naatu," a song by RRR, in the category of Best Original Song - Motion Picture.
RRR has also been nominated for the 2023 Academy Awards in 15 categories. SS Rajamouli was just named the Best Director winner of the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. The Atlanta Film Critics Circle also gave the movie its Best International Picture honour.
