Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is known for picking bold roles in Tamil and Telugu films. Recently, she shifted base to Hyderabad to concentrate more on the Telugu film offers that she is getting. The actress has now signed a film titled V3. Directed by Amudhavanan, the film talks about gang rape and the murder of women.
Speaking to The Times of India, director Amudhavan said, "V3 stands for ‘Vindhya Victim Verdict’. It is a fight for rights and against injustice. The film talks about getting political justice through the same system that initially fails due to pressure from the elected representatives and the people. Apart from giving a glimpse into the procedures that are followed during such investigations, we are trying to provide a solution to sex abuse in the climax of the film.
He further added, "Varalaxmi’s character will shoulder different responsibilities in these portions. In the past, she plays an IAS officer who has been assigned a punishment posting of heading the printing and stationery department in the present. She will be seen as a collector, and in the future, a human rights official. The people who invested in the film wanted to go on floors fast. Since there was a delay from the actress’ side, we went with Varalaxmi, who immediately agreed to come on board. She signed on the dotted line even without getting an advance."
Esther Anil, who appeared in Papanasam, will play Varalaxmi's sister, while Aadukalam Naren plays her father. Auto Chandran, on whom Visaranai is based will essay an important role.
