Controversial director Ram Gopal Varma has always shared a good rapport with Tollywood king Nagarjuna. RGV made his debut with the film Siva and Nagarjuna played the lead role in the film. Nagarjuna's Annapurna Studios produced the film too. Later, RGV became a big director in the movie industry and all his assistants who worked with him on Siva too became successful filmmakers. Puri Jagannath is one of them and he also worked with Ram Gopal Varma on the film Siva.

The same path-breaking movie got remade in Hindi as 'Shiva' marking Nagarjuna's Bollywood debut. Amala played the female lead in both the movies. Interestingly, Puri Jagannath who didn't become a director at that time acted as one of Nagarjuna's friends in the film. This is quite an interesting thing.
