Remembering Satish Kaushik: Javed Akhtar Laments Unfinished Story Of Late Actor-Filmmaker

Late actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik died in March 2023. Recently, an event was organized to honor him. Javed Akhtar, a veteran lyricist, and friend of Satish, reminisced about the late actor-filmmaker. Javed expressed his sadness over the fact that "Satish's story didn't get completed." He also spoke about a company established by Satish. He said that if he were alive, the company's value would have reached ₹150-200 crore in a few years.

Satish Kaushik is survived by his wife Shashi and daughter Vanshika. An event was held in Mumbai last month on Satish's 67th birth anniversary. His close friends Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor, Neena Gupta, and many other celebrities recollected their cherished memories with Satish. Javed Akhtar and actor-wife Shabana Azmi also attended the event. Following Satish's demise, Javed expressed his sentiments for the late actor-director on social media. Javed Akhtar described Satish as "always smiling and having a tremendous sense of humor" while speaking at a recent event in Lucknow. He also said that behind the façade, Satish was "a very serious and sensitive person." Javed lamented that Satish's story was left unfinished. He said so as he had just begun to make his mark as a producer and director, receiving substantial support from Lucknow. He also mentioned that if Satish had continued for a few more years, his company could have been valued at ₹150-200 crore. It is unclear which company Javed Akhtar was referring to when he made the statement. Reports indicate that Satish owned a company named Satish Kaushik Entertainment LLP. It was registered in Mumbai in November 2021. Besides this, Satish and Anupam Kher, his close friend from the National School of Drama. They allegedly co-founded Karol Bagh Productions, a film production company in 2007. Satish Kaushik was renowned for his roles in movies such as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron and Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi. Tere Naam (2003), starring Salman Khan, and Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (2001), featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tusshar Kapoor, are his most famous films as a filmmaker.
