One of the most anticipated films of this year is Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, directed by Priyadarshan, starring Mohanlal in the lead role. This film is releasing worldwide in multiple languages on the 26th of March. Popular producer Kalaippuli S Thanu bought the Tamil theatrical rights of this picture.
Mohanlal himself revealed the news through a video clip. He expressed his happiness over the fact that a star producer like Thanu is distributing the Tamil version of the film. Thanu earlier distributed Mohanlal and Priyadarshan's 1996 epic historical drama film Kaalapani (Siraichalai in Tamil). That film was a big hit in Tamil as well. Now, he is planning to recreate the magic after 24 years, with yet another historical film in the same director-actor combo.
Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham features a stellar star cast which includes Keerthy Suresh, Manju Warrier, Arjun Sarja, Prabhu, Suneil Shetty, Suhasini Maniratnam, Ashok Selvan, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Pranav Mohanlal. It got made on a huge budget by the producers Antony Perumbavoor, Santosh T. Kuruvilla and Roy CJ.
On the flip side, Thanu is also bankrolling the Telugu remake of Asuran, called Narappa which features Venkatesh as the lead. In Tamil, he is producing the film Karnan with Dhanush playing the lead hero.
