Priyanka Chopra Recalls Father's Reaction To Boy Jumping Onto Balcony At Night

Priyanka Chopra recently disclosed in an interview that her father, Ashok Chopra, had to put bars on her windows when she returned to India from the US at the age of 16. This was due to an incident where a boy had jumped onto her balcony at night, leaving her father "super paranoid". Priyanka stated that after the event, her father told her to "wear loose clothes or Indian clothes." As she didn't own any loose clothing, she would wear her father's favorite shirts and tie them up, leaving the buttons open and pairing them with jeans.

During her appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Priyanka further explained that when she came back to India, she was "arrogant, vain" and thought she was "invincible". She was used to "peacocking" in her American high school, which continued when she moved back to India. One night, a boy followed her home and jumped onto her balcony. This prompted her father to put bars on her windows and confiscate all of her jeans. Priyanka also had a driver who would take her everywhere as her father was concerned for her safety. Priyanka's career took off. She stated that she felt guilty for her behavior and lack of understanding of the gravity of the situation. She went on to say that her two years in India were the most arrogant and vain years of her life, especially as she suddenly had equity on her. Priyanka is the eldest of two siblings and is close to her mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, and brother, Siddharth Chopra. Her father, Ashok Chopra, passed away from cancer in 2013. Priyanka is currently married to singer Nick Jonas, and they reside in Los Angeles with their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas.
