Popstar and famous singer Rihanna has donated Rs 37 crores ( USD 5 million dollars ) for Coronavirus relief fund. The singer made the donation through her non-profit organization Clara Lionel Foundation.
Rihanna's foundation will be helping and supporting Direct Relief, Partners In Health, Feeding America, the International Rescue Committee and WHO's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. All of these organizations are currently fighting off the global pandemic all throughout America, the Caribbean, and Africa.
Justice Lucas, the Executive Director of the Clara Lionel said, "Never has it been more important or urgent to protect and prepare marginalized and underserved communities -- those who will be hit hardest by this pandemic."
The official Clara Lionel Foundation twitter handle writes, "We’ve responded to COVID-19 by distributing $5 million to @PIH @DirectRelief @FeedingAmerica @rescueorg @WHO & #Barbados to prepare communities w/ critical protective gear, medical supplies, equipment and access to food across multiple regions. #CLF #HealthcareHeroes: @PIH."
The Clara Lionel Foundation aims at providing community relief by buying critical protective gear, medical supplies, and food relief. Rihanna is among the long line of celebrities who have contributed to relief funds. Previously Ryan Reynolds, and Blake Lively both donated US 1 million dollars each to the relief fund. The Coronavirus pandemic has affected Hollywood and Bollywood both. Films like the Vin Diesel starrer Fast and Furious 9, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow have all gotten postponed. Theatres across the world have shut as a precautionary measure to prevent any further spread of Coronavirus.
The virus has claimed over 13000 lives all across the world.
