Following threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the Maharashtra government has increased Bollywood actor Salman Khan's protection to the Y+ category. Similarly, Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher have been granted X-category security clearance.
According to sources, Salman was formerly provided with regular police protection by the Mumbai Police. However, the actor will now be issued a Y+ security clearance. This means four armed security officers will always accompany him.
Apart from him, Akshay Kumar will now have X-category security, which means three security agents will protect him in shifts. Anupam Kher has been accorded the same degree of protection. According to a news story, celebrities will bear the expense of security.
In June of this year, Salman and his father, Salim Khan, received a threatening letter to 'Moosewala' them. Sidhu Moosewala was a Punjabi singer who was slain earlier this year in Punjab. Mumbai Police apprehended multiple criminals from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, many of them confessed to targeting Salman. Gangsters attempted to assassinate him twice, once outside his Bandra home during his birthday party in 2017 and again at his Panvel estate in 2018.
In terms of Akshay and Anupam, the veteran actor was allegedly offered enhanced protection after receiving threats following the release of his film 'The Kashmir Files,' while the 'Khiladi star was granted security due to social media threats over his nationality.
