Madras HC Slams Dhanush For Seeking Withdrawal Of Petition Of Entry Tax Exemption

Back in July, Vijay was criticized by Madras High Court judged SM Subramaniam for seeking entry tax on his imported Rolls-Royce Ghost. The judge fined him Rs 1 lakh and made some scathing remarks. The judge asked Vijay to be a hero in real life as well. Similarly, Dhanush's case in seeking entry tax exemption was heard by the judge on August 5. Justice Subramanian slammed Dhanush for the same. After the case was listed for hearing, Dhanush's counsel tried to withdraw his petition and agreed to pay the pending tax amount of Rs 30 lakh. The judge who heard the case questioned his intentions and said that the case has been pending since 2015. He also added that if his intentions were genuine, he should have withdrawn his petition much before.

Madras High Court judge refused to withdraw Dhanush's petition and instructed his counsel to pay the rest of the tax amount. Justice Subramaniam said, "You are going to drive the car on the roads which are laid by the taxpayers' money. Will the car fly in the air if you buy from a foreign? Every citizen who puts petrol for Rs 50 pays taxes. Buy a helicopter too. It is unacceptable not to pay taxes on it. Even daily wagers are buying soap, which is taxed. Are they filing a case?"
