The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chair acknowledged that the Pathaan had been edited in accordance with the rules. The last major issue of 2022 occurred over Prasoon Joshi's statement on Pathaan.
The film's cut list has finally been disclosed. Over ten cuts were requested by the examining committee, most of which are connected to the dialogues. The word "RAW" was replaced with the word "Hamare" in two places to better fit the situation. Toote Foote took the place of Langde Lulle. The term "PMO" was eliminated, and in 13 locations, "PM" was changed to "President" or "Minister."
Then "Ashok Chakra" was changed to "Veer Puraskar," "ex-KGB" was changed to "ex-SBU," and "Mrs. Bharatmata" was changed to "Hamari Bharatmata." 'Drink' was used instead of 'scotch' in the dialogue 'Isse sastiscotch nahin mili'. Then, 'Black Prison, Russia' was changed to 'Black Prison' in the text that occurs at one point in the movie.
Finally, the song "Besharam Rang" underwent three changes. The side position (partial nudity), close-up buttocks shots, and sensual dance motions during the lyrics of "Bahut tang kiya" were altered or cut, and "suitable shots" were added in their place. However, the CBFC cut list doesn't specify how many seconds of shots were censored. Additionally, it's unclear if the images of the orange swimsuit that caused a stir have been kept or not.
On January 2 after these modifications, the CBFC issued the censor certificate to the Pathaan filmmakers. The movie received a U/A certificate, and according to the certificate, it is 146 minutes long. To put it another way, Pathaan lasts 2 hours and 26 minutes.
Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham feature in Pathaan. Yash Raj Films have produced the movie. It is directed by Siddharth Anand. It debuts on January 25, 2023.
