Anurag Kashyap Talks About Not Doing Projects For OTT After Tandav Controversy

Anurag Kashyap has confirmed that the third season of his popular web series Sacred Games stands canceled and he also stated that he is not currently working for any digital platforms due to the Tandav controversy.

Sacred Games was co-directed by Anurag and Vikramaditya Motwane. Among those who appeared in the show were Saif Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

In an interview, the interviewer praised Sacred Games and said he expected the filmmaker to do more explosive stuff on OTT. Anurag then said, "I wanted to do a lot of work, in fact, I have worked on it too. But OTT ki aaj ke date me himmat nahi hai. Tandav ke baad sab dar gaye hain( OTT doesn't have the courage nowadays. Everyone is scared since Tandav)."

"Now, I am not interested in the (kind of work on) OTT where I am not allowed to use surnames for characters, I am not allowed to show stuff as they exist. I cannot do this hygienic work. I will not do it. If I cannot keep things real, I will rather not do it," he added.

Anurag stated that rather than doing "hygienic stuff" for OTT simply because everyone else is doing it. He said he prefers to do work that he enjoys.

He also mentioned joining the cast of Sacred Games in the interview. He claimed that the producers were told that "Anurag Kashyap does not attract female audiences." Which is why they initially did not want him on the team. However, Vikramaditya later invited him to join, and he accepted. The filmmaker also stated that the third season of the show was canceled, and only Netflix knows why.

Several FIRs were filed across six states prior to the release of Tandav. The FIRs alleged that the content offended religious sentiments. A few parts of the show had to be cut.
