As the Supreme Court hearing on the validation of same-sex marriage continues, writer Apurva Asrani and his partner Kadamboor Neeraj are among those closely watching the proceedings. Taking to Twitter, Apurva shared a photo of the couple. And he wrote,

On Instagram, he revealed that they have been following the court proceedings live.
 
Apurva replied to comments on his post. One user rudely asked for “permission to love and choose to spend our lives together.” Apurva replied, “We are not seeking permission but our right.” Another commenter praised the couple. Apurva responded, “I think two consenting Indian adults is all we need. Don't really need anything else. The law should apply to everyone irrespective of their economic status. I pray this goes through, arms crossed.”
 
The Supreme Court hearing on the validation of same-sex marriages resumed on Wednesday. A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud is hearing the case. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing one of the petitioners, argued for the cause. He argued, “The State should come forward and provide recognition to same-sex marriage.” Rohatgi also stressed that the court should push society to acknowledge same-sex marriage. The hearing will continue on Thursday. It will have significant implications for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community in India.
