For every Sankranthi festival, a number of films are released. From big films to small films, almost everyone eyes this festival release. Let's see who the winner of Sankranthi 2023 is.
Sankranthi 2023 seems to have brought back the days of the past, with two major films being released for the season. The last time that Tollywood saw big releases for Sankranthi was in 2020, when Superstar Mahesh Babu's Sarkaru Vaari Paata, and Allu Arjun's Ala Vaikuntapuramlo were released. Since then, because of the pandemic, the season became silent.
This year, Megastar Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy released for Sankranthi. At the same time, Tamil films Varisu and Thunivu have been released. They have been released as Vaarasudu and Thegimpu in Telugu. These two films didn't have a lot of buzz in Telugu, naturally. However, they are performing well in Tamil Nadu.
As such, the real competition this Sankranthi season has been between Chiru and Balayya. Both the senior actors managed to score a good hit with their respective films. For Chiru, it was a major back to form after all these years. Fans are absolutely having a blast watching him on screen, in his vintage avatar.
Balayya too came up with a good film, with VRS proving that Balayya can score a hit with directors other than Boyapati. Having said that, there only can be one winner. While both VRS and WV are collecting good amounts at the box office, WV seems to have an edge definitely, and is the winner of this year's Sankranthi.
WV had a few extra elements to offer to the audeince, with the inclusion of Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja in the film. The film also showcased Chiru the way fans have been wanting to see him.
