In a recent interview, Virat Kohli discussed how his thoughts struggled during the difficult times when cricketer Suryakumar Yadav questioned him about his journey over the previous two years. His terrible behavior eventually started reflecting, mainly on his actor-wife Anushka Sharma and other family members, and he started to become frustrated, cranky, and snappy as a result.
While speaking with Suryakumar, Virat added, “In my case too, frustration started creeping in. I wanted to play in a certain way, according to the expectations of everyone and mine as well. But cricket was not allowing me to do that and hence I found myself way too far from where my game was. My attachments and desires had totally taken over. And that is when I realized that I can’t be totally away from who I am and I can’t live in denial".
He added, "Because, in my case, it brought me more frustration. I was getting very cranky, and very snappy in my space which was not fair on anyone around me - Anushka and close ones. I think it’s not fair to the people that support you and are with you all the time to keep seeing you in that space. So, I had to take responsibility and put things in perspective”.
In addition, Virat offered Surya some words of wisdom. He said, “Sometimes what happens, you (Surya) will also experience it as you play more and more now, people look at you differently. When Surya goes out to play, people will say that Surya will do it. To keep up with it is an intense process”.
“I am just happy… in the last two years I didn’t have such a start,” Kohli added. “It was the first match of the year and I got a century, so hopefully, I can build on this because it is also a World Cup year and there is a big Test series coming against Australia".
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma married on December 11, 2017, in Italy. In January 2021, they were blessed with a baby daughter.
