The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai functioned as the venue of the ceremonial opening of the 44th Chess Olympiad. The event was attended by several celebrities in addition to chess players and government representatives from other nations, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister MK Stalin of Tamil Nadu. The inaugural ceremony was a lavish event that, according to rumors, was directed by Kollywood director Vignesh Shivan. In reality, he also oversaw the direction of the Chess Olympiad's opening song. It featured the Tamil Nadu chief minister, and AR Rahman composed the soundtrack.
