Upasana Konidela's paternal grandfather Kamineni Umapathy Rao has passed away this morning. He was also the head of erstwhile Domakonda Samsthanam. He was 92 and breathed his last due to the prolonged illness. Umapathy Rao is a retired IAS officer and also worked as the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. Upasana paid her last respects to him by sharing a post. She also requested her followers to shower love with a smile rather than shedding tears.
Upasana shared a picture of Umapathy Rao. She then wrote, "K. Umapathy Rao of The Erstwhile Samasthan of Domakonda - IAS 15th June 1928 to 27th May 2020. Witnessed the struggle of the Razakar movement, India’s fight for freedom & many more historic events. An Urdu Poet known for his Shayari & the first Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. Was a strong believer in the religion of kindness & generosity. Our grandfather was a man of great principles, selflessness, generosity & sense of humor. His rich long life, achievements & many acts of kindness will be celebrated & remembered by all. Our humble request is for all of you to show your love with a smile rather than tears. Give us the strength to make his journey peaceful."
Upasana is the daughter of Anil Kamineni and Shobana Kamineni. She got married to the actor Ram Charan in 2012. The couple visited the Domakonda fort many times after their marriage. Upasana took care of Umapathy Rao in Apollo Hospitals during his final days. She also interviewed him on his 90th birthday. The interview is on Upasana's Youtube channel.
