Director Vinayan released the character poster of the period film Pathonpathaam Noottandu (Nineteenth Century) on Thiruvonam. The poster features actor Anoop Menon in the role of the Maharaja of Travancore.
The first poster depicts the character of the Maharaja who ruled Travancore in the 19th century. The actor Anoop Menon, plays the role.
Avittam Thirunal Maharaja was the ruler of Travancore till 1810 in the early years of the nineteenth century. After that, Rani Gauri Lakshmibai was the Maharani till 1815. Until 1829, Rani Gauri Parvati Bhai was the regent of Travancore. After that Swati Thirunal till 1846, Uthram Thirunal till 1860, and Ayilyam Thirunal till 1880 were the Maharajas of Travancore.
Despite being a purely action-oriented film, Nineteenth-Century goes through the history of the period. On December 5, 1812, Rani Gauri Lakshmibai issued a proclamation abolishing slavery and the slave trade in Travancore.
But some of the rulers, who felt that these slaves were necessary to work like cows in their fields, flouted the law and went ahead. Finally, in 1854, the strong intervention of the Maharaja of Uttar Pradesh came again to end the slave trade.
Similarly, in 1812, Rani Gauri Lakshmibai proclaimed the right of lower caste women to wear the veil, but it took more than a century for that right to be made available to the downtrodden in this country.
