Director Achu Vijayan said that in the movie 'Vichitram' they had initially cast another actress instead of Jolly Chirayam. A well-known Malayalam actress was cast in this role. But the director says that when he told them about the film, they were not ready to cooperate.
"Another well-known Malayalam actress was first chosen as the mother of the five children in Vichitram. I shot for seven days with them. But when me, a new director, told them about the film and how to act, they were not ready to cooperate;" says Achu
"They said, "I can't do anything as you say. I will return the advance I bought. You look for someone else. I apologised again and tried to understand. But day by day, the star's intolerance increased;" Achu Vijayan added. "They kept saying that they were going to return the advance. Finally, for the sake of the film, I said, you go away, and I will look for someone else. Jolly Chechi came to the cinema later;" Achu added.
When approached with the role of mother, many were not interested, and some did not have time. But the director says that he feels that casting Jolly has benefited the film. Vichitram hit the theatres on October 14. The film garnered appreciation from audience and still running successfully in theatres.
