Given Davis' A-list status as an Academy Award winner, there has been a lot of discussion online about the movie, and fans are impatiently awaiting its release. However, Sony has some fantastic news for Davis' Indian fan following prior to its release.
On October 5, both the English and Tamil versions of the movie will be released in theaters all across India. The movie is a historical epic that was created using real-life events as inspiration. It centers on the Agojie, an all-female military corps who defended the Dahomey kingdom in Africa, one of the continent's most powerful states at the time. Along with Viola Davis, the movie stars Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch from Captain Marvel, John Boyega, Adrienne Warren, Jayme Lawson, and Hero Fiennes Tiffin.
The eagerly awaited movie is now coming to Indian theaters, Sony announced on its official Instagram account; "A warrior becomes a legend! Don’t miss out on the chance to see this historical epic #TheWomanKing coming to theatres on October 5th, in English and Tamil". The movie, which Gina Prince-Bythewood directed, has been receiving Oscar hype even before it is scheduled to be released because so many people think it is a fantastic story and that brilliant minds have stepped forward to create an incredibly original story for the big screen.
