The 68th National Award -The Best Choreography Title Belongs To Sandhya Raju

Sandhya Raju, a Kuchipudi dancer, produced the dance play Natyam. It was directed by Revanth Korukonda. Natyam won national awards for best choreographer for Sandhya. Best makeup artist for Rambabu. An excited In response to the news, Sandhya Raju said she will devote her prize to the late Vempati Chinna Satyam. her Kuchipudi teacher. She stated that “Each time I would walk past the photograph of him receiving the Padma Bhushan award, I would ask myself if I have it in me to become an impactful artiste. I am honored to receive this award which was before bagged by renowned artistes including Pandit Birju Maharaj and Prabhudeva.”

 
She remembers seeing a combination of dance styles during Natyam. The movie includes a romantic cinematic dance with elaborate special effects. Kuchipudi dance routines, and a fusion dance she recalls that “We had six songs in all and we tried to make them different from one another.” The 68th National Film Awards recognizes films that were certified in the year 2020. Though Natyam was released in theatres in October 2021. Sandhya discloses that it was certified in mid-December 2020. enabling it to qualify for the awards: “The film was released in theatres much later, owing to delays caused by the pandemic”.
 
She made her acting debut in the 2013 Hindi short Yaadhon Ki Baraat. Her feature film debut in the 2017 Malayalam thriller film Careful. both of which were released soon after her appearance in the short film Natyam (2016). It was released on International Dance Day. She wed Rama Raju, the son of entrepreneur Ramalinga Raju. He is the eldest child of Ramco Industries Chairman P. R. Venkatrama Raja.
 
To pass on her Guru's Kuchipudi to the following generation, she started Nishrinkala Dance Academy.
