Shibu Chakraborty talks about Mohanlal’s arrival in the classic movie Rajavinte Makan. He said that Rajavinte Makan was a film written for Mammootty. The role reached Mohanlal as Mammootty did not give a date. He also gives the reason why Mammootty did not give a date for Rajavinte Makan.
His words:
Mammootty had six or seven films collapsed at once. It is at this point that they approached him. So Mammootty refused to give a date. But it was Mohanlal who benefited from this script.
There was a pattern for Priyan films released during that time. Mohanlal came from a series of comedy films. Nobody expected him to do such a character. It was a script written for Mammootty who did serious characters. When it reached Mohanlal, everybody saw a different face of the actor which he has never done before.
Mohanlal laughs in only one scene in the film. In all the films he has done so far, he has done funny characters from beginning to end. But when it came to Rajavinte Makan, he only laughs in one scene. The rest of the movie does not have Mohanlal’s laughing scenes. That change led to another dawn in Malayalam cinema. This brought his films in a different pattern. was the beginning of Mohanlal showing his ability to make all kinds of films.
Rajavinte Makan is a 1986 Indian Malayalam-language gangster film. The film is directed and produced by Thampi Kannanthanam and written by Dennis Joseph.
