Shine Tom Chacko is one of the leading young stars of Malayalam cinema. Shine was able to shine on the silver screen as a hero, a villain, and a supporting actor. What makes an actor stand out is the fact that he plays any character with his uniqueness. But along with the love of the audience, Shine's remarks have often led to criticism and controversy. Shine's speech video has recently gained popularity on social media.
The actor is speaking at a book launch event. Shine talks about the book he read during his prison days. The actor says that he read the book for the first time in those days; he had not even read Balarama till then.
Shine's words:
I am a person who has never read a single book, and I'm not interested in reading anything other than comics. My sister-in-law used to read Balarama to me. That, too, is a lie. So I grew up without any connection with reading. I used to read books to learn.
So I happened to read a book during my 60 days in jail. The Fifth Mountain by Paulo Coelho's Malayalam version, not the English version. I was loaded and released in such a way that I can be unloaded quickly when I am in the sub-jail. But this book comes at a time when all hope is lost when I remain in jail without bail. The book was given to me by a friend in another cell. Then I thought, "Okay, let's look at the picture," and when I opened the book, there were no pictures. Then I started reading. Reading is very slow, like one page or two pages.
That is the way to go to bed by nine o'clock in jail. and can't read. and some anticipation of the next page for me to look forward to. In life, hopes began to return. That's when you realise how important a book is in a person's life. That anticipation comes from waiting to see what's on the next page. Then I learned about the book. That book helped me push through the 60 days. hope It was the medium of books that rekindled those emotions within me. Writing is powerful.
