Thalapathy Vijay is one of the highest-paid actors in the Tamil film industry. The actor is presently shooting for his upcoming film, Beast directed by Nelson Dilipkumar in Chennai. Earlier this year, Vijay was seen in director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Master, which was released in theatres. Now, Vijay is busy with his upcoming film. Recently, Vijay was in the headlines for a writ petition he filed in 2012. He has bought a Ross Royce Ghost car in 2012 and imported it. He had filed a petition seeking entry tax exemption for his Rolls Royce car.
The petition was heard today at the Madras High Court today, July 13, and fined Rs 1 lakh. He also instructed Vijay to pay the fine to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Relief Fund two weeks from the date of receipt of the copy of the order along with the tax amount. The judge passed some harsh comments regarding actors failing to pay taxes. In the judgment, Justice SM Subramanian said that actors who are portraying themselves as champions of social justice are seeking an exemption to pay entry tax and are seeking exemption for the same. The judge also added that everyone including heroes needs to pay taxes dutifully to every citizen.
