In an interview given on the promotional tour, Vikram revealed that Thalapathy Vijay and Mahesh Babu were originally cast to play lead roles in Ponnyin Selvan.
The historical epic fiction drama ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is all set to release in theatres today.
'Ponniyin Selvan' is a film in the works for a long time. The film adaptation of Kalki's work was first envisioned in 1964 by MG Ramachandra; later, in 1989, Kamal Haasan acquired the rights.
Along the same lines, Vikram showed how different Ponniyin Seelvan might have looked. In an interview given on the promotion tour, Vikram said that Karthi was originally going to portray the character of Vanthiya Thevan, which was initially set for Thalapathy Vijay to play. Additionally, he mentioned that Mahesh Babu was a candidate to take on Jayam Ravi's role as Raja Raja Chozhan. The actor claimed that from the moment the project started, he was the first choice to play "Aditha Karikalan."
