Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce was directed to conceal OTT partners' names in movie titles. OTTs have been causing strife in the Telugu cinema industry for some years. Theatre owners, especially Telugu filmmakers, appear concerned that the theatre system is getting chaotic as Telugu films become available on digital platforms three to four weeks after their premiere. There is little question that the early distribution of films like Pushpa, which were massive blockbusters, has reduced theatre collections.
As a result, all film producers have talked and resolved to distribute any type of film on OTT platforms eight weeks following its theatrical premiere. The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce just announced the decisions. According to the notice, the specific satellite channel to which the film was sold should not be identified. The same directive applied to OTT names as well, which should also be hidden.
After several producers brought this to the attention of the producer's council, it was decided to release the OTT after eight weeks and not include the titles with the film's title when it was released. This has recently become a significant subject in Tollywood. However, knowing that they would not be marketed even during the film's premiere, the OTT platform managers and channel managers will pressure the producers.
