Manichitrathazhu is one of the evergreen films in Malayalam. The great proof of its popularity is the fact that the Malayalees do not get tired of the film even after watching it repeatedly on television. Now director B Unnikrishnan has revealed an interesting fact about the filming of the climax scene in the film. The climax of the film was when Ganga Sankaran, played by Shobhana, killed his nemesis Thambi. Sankaran cuts the Ganges on Thambi's dummy. B. Unnikrishnan said that it was Suresh Gopi who shared this idea with Fazil.
"Fazil sir told us that when there was a lot of confusion about the climax of Manichaetrathazhu, it was Suresh Gopi who gave the most magnificent suggestion.
While thinking about how to shoot the climax, Suresh Gopi said that he can put a dummy on and change the character of Ganga, who is excited by Nagavalli, to be cut in that dummy. It was a director like Fazil who took that suggestion. We are open. But here, we see it as a matter of great creativity as to who decides an edit. It is absolutely our right. We make it clear in no uncertain terms that if it is shown to anyone else, it will be the producer of the film," said B Unnikrishnan.
Unnikrishnan shared the memory of Manichithrathazhu while explaining the involvement of some of the current stars in a press conference called by FEFKA after the discussion with the Producers Association. He had said that by giving dates for many films at the same time and asking to see the edit of the film, many people are creating headaches for the directors and producers, and this cannot be allowed.
