The filmmaker SS Rajamouli has discussed Hindi cinema and the involvement of corporations. He also discussed the essential component of producing a successful movie. The director stated that it's crucial to "connect with the audience" in a recent interview. Rajamouli added that the will to achieve has diminished since corporates "started flocking into" the Hindi film business and paying "huge amounts to actors and directors."
The South's film business, according to Rajamouli, "has to swim or sink," thus such a situation doesn't exist there. He continued by saying that they shouldn't get complacent now that they have 'good business.
SS Rajamouli said, “I don't think there will be any secret formulas. Two things I would say are, basically having a connection with the audience and not getting too comfortable. If you get too comfortable, you will get too complacent. If your film is doing good business at the moment of announcement then you tend to get complacent."
He also added, "What happened once the corporates started coming in. They came to the Hindi field and started paying high fees to actors, to directors or companies. The need to, 'I have to succeed at any cost, has come down a little bit, and the hunger has come down a little bit. Here, down south, that was not there. You have to swim or you are going to sink. Now it has shifted here. Now, we shouldn't get complacent. We have good business. If we get complacent and the hunger goes down then it's going to go the other way. To have the connect with the audience, to always have an understanding of what are they wanting, I think is important."
RRR, Rajamouli's most recent film, has received appreciation from critics worldwide as well as in India. The movie centers on two real-life Indian rebels. They are Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, whose life is set in the 1920s. Ram Charan and Jr. NTR play the roles of the rebels. The film was released worldwide in March in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. It also features Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in significant parts.
The historical action epic was recently nominated in the Golden Globe Awards. It features in the best picture (non-English) and best original song (Naatu Naatu) categories. Rajamouli was also named the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's runner-up for best director (LACFA).
