Soorarai Pottru Wins Big At The 68th National Film Awards

On Friday, the 68th National Film Awards were announced. The 68th National Film Awards received 295 feature film submissions in a variety of categories. The 68th National Awards were dominated by 'Soorarai Pottru,' with Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, GV Prakash Kumar, and Sudha Kongara winning top honors. Suriya won Best Actor, Aparna Balamurali won Best Actress, GV Prakash Kumar won Best Background Score, Shalini Usha Nair and Sudha Kongara won Best Screenplay, and Sudha Kongara won Best Feature Film (Sudha Kongara). After failing to make the final Oscar nominations, 'Soorarai Pottru' has eventually won multiple accolades at the 68th National Film Awards.

'Soorarai Pottru,' directed by Sudha Kongara, starred Suriya and Aparna Balamurali in main roles and is based on the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath. The soundtrack was composed by GV Prakash Kumar, and the film was released digitally rather than theatrically. The awards have been announced for the films released in 2020, despite numerous films being postponed due to the spread of the pandemic. Meanwhile, Kollywood's director Vasanth, actress Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli, editor Sreekar Prasad, and director Madonne Ashwin won accolades for their films Sivaranjiniyum Sila Pengalum' and 'Mandela.'
