The OTT platform SonyLIV has been making changes to ensure the development of regional content. Sony Pictures Network India has welcomed Sreedhar Reddy Komalla to head the Telugu content division for their streaming service SongLIV. Sreedhar Reddy Komalla will focus on expanding Telugu content and overseeing the expansion of the Telugu vertical of SongyLiv. This news comes days after G Dhananjayan was appointed as the head of Tamil content.
Sreedhar Reddy Komalla happens to be an engineering graduate who has previously worked for MNCs like Infosys, TCS and Wipro. Reddy left the corporate life behind to pursue his filming-making dreams. In the Telugu film industry, Reddy went on to establish a music label by the name of Madhura Audio. He has spent 10 years producing, directing and distributing Telugu films. He has produced films like Backbench Student, ABCD -American Born Confused Desi and Dorasaani.
Ashish Golwalkar, the head of content at SonyLIV has brought on Reddy to expand orginal Telugu content and diverse genres.
SonyLIV has had tremendous success with its original content in recent times. From shows like Maharani to Scam 1992 to Kathmandu Connection. Media experts have recognized the changes at SonyLIV as advantageous. Focusing on local language content will most probably give the OTT platform a leg up!
