The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has led to most film industries halting and postponing film releases. In the last couple of weeks, films like Matt Reeves's The Batman, Wonder Woman 1984 and Marvel's Black Widow have all announced news regarding postponing their release schedule.
Earlier on Monday Sony Pictures postponed some more of their future projects. The projects include Jared Leto's Morbius, the upcoming Ghostbusters film, and Tom Holland starrer Uncharted. Morbius was set to hit theatres on July 31. Now the spider-man spinoff film will hit theatres on March 19, 2021. The Ghostbusters film will occupy the release date of March 5, 2021, in place of the earlier July 10 release.
The video game adaption of The Uncharted series is now set to hit theatres on October 8, 2021. The Tom Hanks starrer Greyhound has also been postponed. Tom Hanks was one of the first few celebrities to have tested for the novel COVID-19 virus. Hanks is now recovering alongside his wife Rita Wilson.
"Major U.S. cities and moviegoing markets across the globe have rolled out protective measures, closing all non-essential businesses and issuing "shelter-in-place" warnings. AMC and Regal — the two largest theaters chains operating in the U.S. — announced an indefinite closure of their venues, while other smaller chains like Alamo Drafthouse and Cinemark have announced their own closures, " reports the Hollywood reporter in a recent article.
