Rockstar directed by Imtiaz Ali is
Ranbir Kapoor's most popular film. Kapoor gives a compelling performance which is both emotional and impactful. The film in itself is famous for the storyline and its songs by A.R Rahman. Though, only a few people know what went into the making of this film and how it all came together. The film is about a character named Jordan, an ordinary college boy who dreams to be a popular rock singer. Life puts him through different challenges. Most of all when he falls in love with Nargis Fakhri's character Heer.
Ali who finished the draft of the film in 2007 wanted to cast Hrithik Roshan and
Kareena Kapoor Khan its lead roles. Roshan declined to be a part of the film due to his disagreement with the script. Afterward, Ranbir Kapoor got selected but Ali was in two minds about the choice. For Ranbir Kapoor couldn't star opposite his own cousin. It would complicate the love scenes. Which is why Fakhri starred in the film, instead.
Kapoor has to spend much of his time in the studio. Practising with Rahman and learning how to play the guitar. Fakhri's voice had to dubbed in most places due to her accent. She was also not Ali's first choice as mentioned earlier.
Kapoor's hairstyle was of much importance in the film. Due to the different length of hair that his character went through. Ali ended up changing the order of filming altogether. Shooting the climax first which had Kapoor in long hair. For the song sequence Kun Faya Kun, his hair needed to be short. Some sources informed that when he entered the set on the shoot of this song no one could recognize him. For the last song Naadan Parinde, he had to sit through two dozen wigs to achieve the perfect rockstar look. Despite such hassle, the film won many hearts and awards.
